About Us
The Forensic Linguistics Lab Ltd. is led by its Co-Founders and Directors, Dana Roemling and Daniela Schneevogt. We work collaboratively across projects, sharing responsibility for research, analysis, and client support. Both directors contribute their individual areas of expertise to each project while maintaining a clear separation between analytical and client-facing roles. This structure ensures that every case benefits from independent review and the highest professional standards.

Dana Roemling (they/them)
Dana Roemling is a forensic linguist with expertise in the analysis of language as evidence in legal and investigative contexts. They specialise in authorship analysis, the systematic study of linguistic features in texts to determine who may have written them. Their research also explores how language varies across regions, communities, and contexts, with broader interests in sociolinguistics, dialectology, corpus linguistics, and lavender linguistics.
Dana holds degrees in Linguistics (University of Duesseldorf), Social Research (University of Birmingham), and Finnish/Scandinavian & English Studies (University of Cologne), alongside foundational legal studies and a certificate in higher education teaching. They are currently completing a PhD in Applied Linguistics at the University of Birmingham, investigating how regional linguistic variation, such as dialects, can assist law enforcement in identifying the authors of online communications. Dana also brings over nine years of professional experience in the IT sector, including project and product management, which complements their research with strong analytical and organisational skills.
Dr Daniela Schnevogt (she/her)
Daniela Schneevogt is a forensic linguist specialising in the analysis of online communications. She investigates how people use language to express or conceal identity and applies this expertise to authorship analysis and the examination of digital evidence. Her work supports clients in legal, law enforcement, and corporate contexts, including cases involving disputed authorship, online threats, and anonymous communication.
Daniela holds both an MA and a PhD in Forensic Linguistics (Aston University), where her research examined how language and usernames are used to construct identity in online criminal environments, and how these insights can support dark web investigations. She also holds degrees in IT & Cognition (University of Copenhagen) and International Information Management with Psychology (University of Hildesheim), adding to her expertise in behavioural research.
Her professional experience in online content moderation gives her a strong understanding of people's behaviours in digital spaces, and the importance of language analysis for safeguarding issues, enhancing her analysis of online evidence. Her experience in usability design and university teaching helps her communicate complex linguistic findings clearly and effectively for clients and investigators.
